In a chilling development from France, a woman in her 50s has been arrested after the tragic discovery of two newborn babies in a freezer. Police were alerted when a family member stumbled upon the body of an infant in a bag inside the freezer. Officers, conducting a thorough search, soon unearthed the body of a second baby in the same freezer.

The disturbing find was made in the village of Aillevillers-et-Lyaumont in Haute-Saône. The woman, apprehended over 300km away in Boulogne-Billancourt, has reportedly confessed to the extraordinary secret she kept for years. According to Besançon prosecutor Cédric Logelin, she admitted to concealing her pregnancies, birthing at home, and placing the babies in the freezer sometime between 2011 and 2018.
The woman, who has nine children from two previous relationships, allegedly managed to hide her pregnancies even from those closest to her. She was arrested following an investigation that initially focused on the homeowner, but quickly turned to her. The news has caused shockwaves in the small village, typically home to fewer than 1,500 residents, as authorities continue to probe deeper into the case.

The accused is said to have managed to keep her secret through loose clothing and deflective explanations regarding any weight gain. Her partner was reportedly blindsided by the revelation, having been unaware of the births altogether. An autopsy on the infants is slated for Friday, as the investigation remains ongoing. This heart-wrenching case has left a community grappling with disbelief and mourning.
