On Sunday evening, a massive blaze broke out in a one-storey barn in Libanus, Brecon, threatening to engulf 29 tonnes of straw along with vital farm equipment. Thanks to the rapid response of fire crews from Brecon, Talgarth, Crickhowell, Builth Wells, and Llandrindod—alongside a team from South Wales—the fire was brought under control after a four-and-a-half-hour battle.

The 45-metre-long barn was “severely damaged,” but the fearless firefighters managed to limit the destruction. They heroically moved the smouldering straw to a nearby field and used six hose reel jets, four pumps, a rural response pump, and two water bowsers to quench the inferno and dampen hotspots.
