A dramatic scene unfolded at Heathrow as Virgin Atlantic crew member, Kathryn Scott, was removed from duty after being found four times over the alcohol limit. The 44-year-old’s troubles began with a crash on her way to the airport. Her black Hyundai met its fate at a roundabout, leaving her reliant on a kind-hearted passerby to get her to work on time.

But things went from bad to worse. Upon reporting for duty, Scott was pulled from the flight when her crash was flagged to the police. A breathalyser revealed she had 91 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, significantly overshooting the UK flight attendant limit of 20 mg.

In court, Scott, sporting a black jacket and trousers, denied the charge of performing an aviation function while over the limit. She pointed the finger at a supposed steering fault for causing the crash and explained that a liver condition might be affecting her alcohol metabolism. Meanwhile, Scott only admitted to enjoying two glasses of wine the night prior, a full eight hours before she was due to fly.
Her trial is set for December 11 at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court. Stay tuned for more updates on this unfolding story. 🍷✈️
