π₯ BREAKING: Former Care Home Smoulders with Misinformation! π₯

In Gwersyllt, Wrexham, property owner Bilal Babar is fuming after rumours ignited controversy over his plans for the old Oak Alyn Hall. The former care home, targeted by vandals and reportedly an arson attack, is at the centre of false claims it’s being turned into asylum seeker housing.

Babar, who planned to transform the building into a 28-bed HMO to deliver affordable accommodation, is battling misinformation spreading online. Despite viral rumours and a petition gaining traction, he insists asylum seeker housing was “never an option.” “It’s shocking to see these lies spreading,” he says.
The confusion intensified when a statement from Wrexham Council claimed an asylum accommodation application had been submitted to the Home Office. Bilal denies this, shocked as documents surfaced indicating a cleared company had lodged such a request.
Once interested in other ventures, including a B&B, Babar landed on an HMO to provide much-needed housing. However, with his building’s reputation on the line, heβs left defending his project. “I just wanted to make this property useful for the community,” he asserts.
As misinformation risks derailing his investment, Bilal calls for clarity. Authorities are on the case, with North Wales Police confirming damage during routine patrols. As investigations continue, Babar is focused on working with locals and councils to clear the air and get his plans back on track.
