π¨ Time for a social media shake-up? π¨ As a mum and teacher, I’ve seen firsthand the damage social media can do to teens. It’s addictive and influences who they think they should be. Isn’t it time we got our kids off these apps and into real life with books, sports, and good old-fashioned chatting?

π± Did you know one in five kids spends over seven hours a day glued to screens? It’s surely time for a change. That’s why I’ve backed a call to the Prime Minister to introduce a social media age limit of 16, similar to what’s being done in Australia. This would put the responsibility on tech companies to limit underage access.

Why is this so important? π€ Social media exposes kids to harmful content, leading to issues like cyberbullying, exposure to explicit material, and even influencing their opinions with extreme content. As parents, teachers, and community members, we want our children to grow up safe and strong, away from toxic online environments.
In school, we’ve already seen success with phone bans, leading to more focused and engaged students. Letβs expand this positive impact beyond the classroom! πβ½
Support for this change is strong, and itβs time we act to give our children the chance to grow without the negative influences of social media. After all, we want them to be creative, active, and resilient individuals, ready to face the future with confidence. π
