Kurt Lavender, a former Tesco manager from Aberdare, swapped stacking shelves for a notorious life of crime, shocking the community and his own family. After losing his job and spiralling into financial trouble, Lavender stepped into the world of drug dealing. His secret life came crashing down when police spotted a suspicious transaction from his blue Peugeot in a well-known drug area.

Arrested on the spot, officers found more than £800 in cash, 6g of cocaine, and cannabis in his possession. Back at his home, Lavender’s partner, Samantha Evans, reportedly knew of his activities, allowing their house to become a drug-dealing hub. From ‘drug packaging stations’ in their hallway to secret texts on Lavender’s phone, the double life was laid bare. Shocking revelations exposed Lavender’s deals with customers, including a schoolboy who planned to disguise his uniform under a coat for their meeting.

As Lavender pleaded guilty to multiple drug charges, the courtroom heard the toll his actions had taken on his family. Judge Simon Mills condemned Lavender’s “utterly shameful” actions, especially preparing cannabis in a home with children. Though Lavender claimed sole responsibility, his wife Evans, who pleaded guilty to allowing drug supply on her premises, ended their marriage, indicating a new chapter for her.
Sentenced to 40 months in prison, Lavender will serve part of his term in custody. Meanwhile, Evans faces an 18-month community order and 100 hours of community service. This shocking tale serves as a stark reminder of how quickly life’s circumstances can change and the far-reaching impacts of such choices.
