🚨 Shocking Scam Alert! 🚨

In a truly despicable act, a heartless scammer posed as a police detective, tricking a woman in her 90s out of £27,000 in cash and jewellery. The con artist, Sharmarke Ahmed, 34, convinced the elderly lady from Malpas, Cheshire, that criminals were targeting her area. Pretending to keep her valuables safe, he had her set up a password—it seemed all too legitimate. 😠

The vile plot unfolded on March 5th when Ahmed, masquerading as a cop, collected the valuables right from her doorstep. Thankfully, a concerned friend hit the alert and the real police sprang into action. 🕵️♀️
Digging deep, authorities traced the scam to a number activated just that day and linked it to a phone seen travelling from London to Cheshire. CCTV footage further tightened the noose, capturing Ahmed as he made his way back to London. 🚍🕵️
Cheshire Police, along with the MET, brought this crook to justice in a swift arrest on April 1st. Ahmed, hailing from South London, was jailed for 28 months after owning up to his crimes. 🚓⚖️
Detective Constable Niall Dudley shared critical advice: Courier fraud is real, and anyone can fall victim to it. Always double-check before handing over your valuables. If you suspect foul play or fraud, report it to police immediately using a separate phone. Let’s keep our community safe from such pernicious scams. 🤝🔒
