Back in January, Gabby was named one of the new Match of the Day hosts, joining Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates in taking over from Gary Lineker. But believe it or not, there was a time she thought about leaving TV altogether. After welcoming twins Reuben and Lois in 2005, Gabby considered switching her dreamy TV career for something like home renovation or even pursuing law—yes, she holds a degree from Durham University!

It wasn’t long before this dynamic presenter found her “second wind.” Staying on at ITV post-maternity leave until she transitioned to the BBC in 2006, Gabby’s career took off on a new course. Now, she’s loving the shared presenting gig, highlighting the unique perspectives each host brings to Match of the Day.

In her own words, Gabby reflected, “I was 33, with tiny twins, thinking it was all over. But the BBC gave me a chance. It’s an exciting chapter showing it ain’t over until it’s over.”

Fans love how she continually brings wisdom, confidence, and a touch of nostalgia to the iconic football show. Remembering the old days when her dad, the legendary Terry Yorath, played, Gabs recalls the thrill of the Match of the Day music filling the room on Saturday nights, a charming memory that still fills her with joy. 🌟

So, while she might’ve once thought she’d be swapping scripts for property plans, we’re grateful she stayed with broadcasting. Here’s to not looking back and embracing where life leads! 💪✨
