Gabby Logan is no stranger to football fans, but stepping into the role of permanent host on Match of the Day this season has been a whirlwind! Known for her seasoned presence, Gabby opened up about her nerves during her debut episode. She confessed on Instagram that she felt her heart “beating out of her shirt” before her opening link, despite having filled in for Gary Lineker in the past.

Joined by ex-Premier League stars Rob Green and Troy Deeney to break down the Sunday games, Gabby’s nerves eased as the week progressed. “Week 2 and the nerves settled into a regular pre-show (optimal) level. Heart rate normal,” she shared, posting a few behind-the-scenes photos.

This role feels particularly special for Gabby, who grew up watching the programme alongside her dad, former Wales and Leeds midfielder Terry Yorath. “When my dad was playing, it was the only way you could watch football on TV because there were very few live matches… hearing that music meant I was staying up late on a Saturday night,” she reminisced.
In this new era for Match of the Day, Gabby, along with Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates, will bring fresh energy and unique perspectives, keeping both viewers and pundits on their toes. It’s a legendary programme, and Gabby is ready to make her mark!
