๐ผ๐ท Ready to transform your garden into a spring wonderland? ๐ท๐ผ The fabulous Alan Titchmarsh is sharing his top tips on planting bulbs this September for a dazzling burst of colour next year! ๐

September is the ideal time to plant daffodils, tulips, and crocuses for a stunning floral display from February to May. Even if you don’t have a garden, you can grow these beauties in pots! ๐ชด
๐ Here’s a simple guide from Alan to help you:

1. **Growing in containers**: It’s as easy as layering lasagne! Start with a good mix of peat-free compost. First, a layer of tulip bulbs like ‘National Velvet’. Cover with more compost, then add daffodils and narcissi like ‘Snow Fusion’. Another compost layer, then finish with crocus such as ‘Jeanne D’Arc’. This reverse flowering order ensures a continuous bloom with crocuses leading the way! ๐ธ
2. **In borders**: Perfect for adding a splash of colour at the front of beds. Dig a hole three times the depth of the bulbs, add dwarf narcissus like ‘W. P. Milner’, and space them one or two inches apart. It’s that simple! ๐ผ
3. **Naturalising in grass**: Create a wild meadow look in your lawn. Alan plants daffodils in clumps, and singular tulips for a natural vibe. Use a bulb planter, place your bulb 12 inches apart and cover with grass plugs โ voilร ! ๐ฟ๐ท
Alan’s tips ensure that as each flower fades, another takes its place, filling your garden with vibrant life just as spring arrives. Make sure you give your bulbs the good start they deserve by checking their qualityโthey should feel plump and solid. ๐ฑ
