A striking new mural honouring Cardiff City FC legend Sol Bamba has been unveiled in Grangetown, Cardiff! This stunning tribute graces the side of a building on Penarth Road, just a short walk from the Cardiff City Stadium. It beautifully captures Bamba in his iconic salute goal celebration, a gesture cherished by Bluebirds fans.
Sol Bamba, who sadly passed away on August 31, 2024, was not only a celebrated player but also an inspiring coach. His significant contributions to the club during his five-year stint as a player and later as an assistant in 2023 left a lasting impact. In those years, he made 112 appearances and scored 10 memorable goals.
The mural’s creation has been a heartfelt community effort, attracting admiration from residents and football fans alike who appreciate its amazing depiction of Bamba’s charismatic presence.
To commemorate the first anniversary of Sol’s passing, Cardiff City FC honoured his memory in their recent match against Plymouth Argyle. Fans paid tribute with a moving one-minute applause in the 14th minute—a nod to his squad number—and sang the ever-famous “Last Christmas” in his memory. The atmosphere was truly a testament to the deep admiration and respect Bamba earned throughout his career.
