Gabby Logan and a host of well-known faces from football and television gathered in Leeds to bid farewell to Welsh football icon Terry Yorath. The service at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church was filled with touching moments as tributes poured in for Yorath, who passed away at 75 after a brief illness.

Yorath, a former Leeds United and Wales captain, was celebrated for his storied career in football and management. From playing stints at clubs like Coventry City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Swansea City, to managing Wales and clubs across the UK, his impact on the sport was profound.

Gabby Logan, Yorath’s daughter, was visibly emotional but surrounded by family and friends. Her husband Kenny and son Reuben were among the pallbearers. During the service, family members including Logan’s brother Jordan, daughter Lois, and son Reuben shared heartfelt tributes through a eulogy, a rendition of ‘Jerusalem’, and a poem, respectively. The iconic Welsh anthem, ‘Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’, set the tone for the moving farewell.
The congregation included football legends Ian Rush, Chris Coleman, Ian Thomas, and Eddie Gray. Comedian Elis James delivered an opening eulogy, while Bryn Law and former teammates like Chris Kamara and Stuart McCall offered their respects. After the final eulogy, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ played as the coffin exited the church.
A private burial followed, with a wake at Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium. It was a day of shared memories and deep respect for a man whose legacy will be cherished in Wales and beyond. Rest in peace, Terry Yorath, a true legend of the beautiful game.
