Today, we bid farewell to Senedd member Hefin David, who passed away suddenly, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love. Hefin, who served Caerphilly with passion and integrity, will always be remembered not just for his political contributions but for being a devoted family man. His commitment to his community and his loved ones shone through in everything he did.

As a proud Welshman, Hefin’s work in the Senedd was marked by his drive to unite people and address key issues, such as additional learning needs and transport challenges. More importantly, his loving nature and dedication to his family, including daughters Caitlin and Holly and partner Vikki Howells, made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Hefin’s family shared their profound grief and gratitude for the outpouring of support, emphasising that Hefin was not only a respected public figure but also a cherished father, son, brother, uncle, and partner. They appreciate the privacy to mourn this monumental loss.

His journey from studying politics and economics to gaining a PhD and later becoming a lecturer speaks volumes about his commitment to personal and community growth. Hefin’s advocacy for education, particularly for those with additional needs, and his support of the Caerphilly Miners Centre reflect his dedication to making a difference.
Though his passing leaves a gap in Welsh Labour and the hearts of those he touched, Hefin’s legacy of service and empathy will continue to inspire. Rest in peace, Hefin. ❤️
