🏛️ Big News for Llandudno! 🏖️

Heads up, folks! One of Llandudno’s iconic landmarks, the Colonnade, is getting a major facelift, and it’ll mean some short-term road closures. 👷♂️🚧

This historic 170-metre walkway, which opened back in 1932, is a beloved piece of the town’s heritage. Sadly, a recent report highlighted its deteriorating state, so urgent repairs are now on the cards. 🏗️💼
The Colonnade is famed for its stunning views over Llandudno Bay and the Victorian pier. Built to provide shelter to visitors, it’s now in desperate need of some TLC with repairs pegged at £800,000. This revamp will include structural reinforcement, waterproofing, and a fresh coat of anti-carbonation. They’re also sprucing up the iron and steel balustrades, improving drainage, and popping in some new seating and power installation.
For residents and visitors alike, this means some changes to your usual route beginning November 10. The road in front will be closed on weekdays, but good news: it’ll remain open on weekends!
Here’s a quick rundown on closure times:
– Week 1: Mon & Tue, 8am-3.30pm; Wed, 8am-1.30pm; Thu, 8am-3pm; Fri, 8am-2.30pm.
– From Nov 17: Mon & Tue, 8am-3.30pm; Wed, 8am-1.30pm; Thu, 8am-3pm; Fri, 8am-5.30pm.
Don’t worry, businesses along the route will still be welcoming you with open arms, and pedestrian access via Happy Valley Road is a-okay. 🛍️🥳
Conwy Council sends a massive thanks for your patience as this essential work kicks off. Let’s keep loving our seaside gem and look forward to a beautifully restored Colonnade! 🌊✨
