🚨 Shocking Hit-and-Run Drama in Newport! 🚨

In a jaw-dropping incident, 40-year-old Michael Tufft caused chaos on the roads by crashing into another car at the Port Ebbw Roundabout, seriously injuring three individuals, including his own passengers. Instead of staying to help, he shockingly fled the scene, leaving his vehicle and two injured women behind.

While the driver, Christopher Cornford, a rugby development officer, was left reeling from the impact, Tufft casually clambered out of the driver’s seat with blood on his face and vanished into the nearby park. His escape left bystanders stunned and by the time help arrived, his passengers were found injured and unconscious with one pinned by the passenger door.

An urgent police appeal dubbed him the “hot wanted man” following the November 2022 crash. His seeming disregard for others’ safety has taken many aback. During court proceedings, Tufft initially denied being the driver, but evidence, including his DNA on the airbag, painted a different story.
With a track record of reckless behaviour, Tufft’s criminal legacy is long, boasting 34 previous convictions, including those for driving offences. Despite his pleas that he’s turned over a new leaf, the court remained unimpressed.
Judge Paul Hobson didn’t mince words, labeling Tufft’s actions as “utterly selfish and cowardly,” sentiments shared by many affected by his dangerous driving. As a result, Tufft has been handed an 18-month prison sentence and banned from driving for nearly three years.
This shocking crash has also had a profound effect on Mr Cornford, who is now struggling to overcome his trauma. As a devoted rugby coach, his injuries have hampered his professional life and left him fearful on the road.
Let this be a wake-up call for all. Such reckless abandon doesn’t just affect the guilty party but ripples through the lives of all involved. Stay safe, drive sensibly, and always consider those around you. đźš—đź’Ą
