🎄 Oh no, not again! 🎄 Yet another bout of festive mischief in the historic town of Ruthin has left the town’s beloved Christmas tree damaged for the third time. Placed proudly on St Peter’s Square, opposite the iconic Castle Hotel Wetherspoons, the tree has become an unfortunate victim of vandalism once more.

Over the weekend, someone decided climbing this festive symbol was a great idea, but it ended in broken branches, torn lights, and a damaged crown. It’s disheartening to see such un-festive behaviour year after year, especially when the tree wasn’t even up last Christmas due to maintenance on the nearby clock.
Local resident Gavin Harris expressed his frustration: “Sadly, we seem to have had some un-festive climber again, leading to broken branches and damaged lights. It’s so tiresome having to report this repeatedly.”

Good news is, CCTV footage is being reviewed, and there’s hope this lovely evergreen can be spruced up once more. If you have any information, don’t hesitate to reach out to the town clerk at clerk@ruthintowncouncil.gov.uk.
Let’s hope the culprit realises the error of their ways and steps forward, potentially saving themselves from further repercussions. In the past, some vandals have faced charges or were shamed on social media into making amends.
Let’s rally to keep Ruthin’s Christmas spirit bright and merry. Share this post, keep an eye out, and let’s all do our part to protect the festive cheer in our community. 🎅✨ #RuthinChristmas #CommunitySpirit #FestiveMischief
