👩⚕️✊ Underpaid Hospital Heroes Stand Up for Fair Pay! ✊👨⚕️

Healthcare support workers at a Welsh health board are taking a stand and hitting the streets on Tuesday, demanding the pay they were promised! These essential workers, who have often gone above and beyond their NHS band two pay grade, are protesting after feeling “betrayed” by the Swansea Bay University Health Board.

A deal meant to right years of underpayment was abruptly pulled, leaving these hardworking individuals without the compensation they were scheduled to receive next month. For some, this could have been a much-needed compensation of up to £7,000!
After a strong two-year campaign filled with determination and solidarity, workers were initially promised a move to a higher pay band, with recognition payments and back pay promised by the end of the year. Yet, the board recently decided to pause the local agreement, leaving many feeling undervalued and sidelined.
This Tuesday, October 21, support workers, backed by Unison, will gather outside the health board’s HQ, armed with a 2,000-signature petition, calling for fairness. They won’t back down until they receive what was promised—fair pay for the crucial work they do every day.
