🚨 Drama in Llandeilo: Six-Hour Stand-Off with Armed Police 🚨

In a tense episode that unfolded in a scrap metal yard, Jason Lewis, 39, found himself at the centre of a six-hour standoff with armed police. The drama began after an altercation at the Salutation Inn, where Jason reportedly made threats against a relative, prompting a chain of events that spiralled out of control.

By morning, Jason had barricaded himself inside his father’s business, causing around £10,000 worth of damage. Things took a more dangerous turn when he doused himself in petrol, leading to a full-scale police response including a firearms unit. It took incredible effort from firefighters to gain access, ending the confrontation.

Lewis, from Ffairfach, Llandeilo, faced court this week, pleading guilty to charges of making threats to kill, criminal damage, and affray. With 29 previous convictions including criminal damage and violent offences, it was determined that Lewis’s actions posed a risk that couldn’t be managed outside of prison.
Defence lawyer Ryan Bowen highlighted Lewis’s long-standing struggles with substance misuse and mental health issues, revealing that he began using cannabis at just 11. Lewis reportedly experiences paranoia and hears voices, yet he is remorseful for his actions and recognises the negative impact of his prolonged substance abuse.
Judge Paul Thomas KC described Lewis as “out of control” with a “ferocious” temper, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence. The hope remains that upon release, Jason will seek the support available to turn his life around.
