Port Talbot, famed for its iconic steelworks, is also a secret hotspot for nurturing Hollywood legends! This small Welsh town boasts an extraordinary acting heritage with legends like Richard Burton, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Michael Sheen hailing from here.
Did you know? Sir Anthony Hopkins took his very first steps into acting at the Port Talbot YMCA, thanks to a passionate railwayman and theatre lover, Cyril Jenkins. Anthony’s debut role? A humble spear carrier in a religious play that moved his father to tears. Little did they know, this young lad would grow into an Oscar-winning titan of the silver screen! 🎬🏆
But the story doesn’t start or stop with Hopkins. Before him, Port Talbot sent Millicent Lilian Entwistle, famously known as Peg, to Hollywood. Her performances even inspired the legendary Bette Davis!
