Ian Wright recently opened up about his rocky relationship with his sister, Dionne, as she tied the knot with his former Crystal Palace teammate, Mark Bright. The legendary Arsenal striker, who shared a solid on-field partnership with Bright from 1986 to 1991, revealed that the tensions date back to an incident involving his wife, Nancy.
During an appearance on the True Geordie podcast, Ian shared how Dionne had ignored Nancy at an introduction, leading to a long-standing rift. In a candid chat, he reflected on the moment he decided not to speak to his sister until she apologised, expressing that Nancy, whom he married in 2011, didn’t deserve such disrespect.
Ian admitted that he hasn’t talked to Dionne in 15 years, a situation he highlighted during his stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2019. Wright was visibly torn over what the marriage between his sister and Bright meant for their relationship. Despite Bright being like a “big brother” to him, Ian stood firm on his need for an apology, believing it was necessary for peace and reconciliation.
Ian, who was previously married to Deborah and has two children with her, values family deeply, making the lack of communication with Dionne all the more poignant. But as of now, it’s unclear if the siblings have reconciled, especially since Ian was noticeably absent from any wedding photos shared by Bright on social media.
