🎉 Spot a Shoplifter, Earn a Quid! 🛒

The boss of Iceland, Richard Walker, has launched an exciting initiative to tackle the hefty £20 million annual cost of shoplifting their stores face. In a bid to curb this issue, they’re offering £1 to any customer who spots a shoplifter in one of their UK stores.

To make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity, you just need to be part of Iceland’s loyalty scheme and have an Iceland Bonus Card. Once you alert a staff member of a shoplifter, your account will be credited with £1.

Walker shared the news on Channel 5, explaining that by reducing theft, Iceland hopes to lower prices for all customers. The programme comes alongside another tech-savvy measure: facial recognition technology at tills, which aims to deter theft and ensure safety. This initiative, already in use by other big retailers like Home Bargains and Sports Direct, is being trialled with the possibility of expansion.
It’s a win-win: safeguard your local Iceland while earning a little bonus for yourself! What are your thoughts on this move to combat shoplifting? Let us know in the comments! 🧐💬
