🎾 Big changes are coming to your TV screens in 2026! The BBC bids farewell to two of its iconic sporting events as the Commonwealth Games and the famous Boat Race find new homes. 📺

The Commonwealth Games, a staple since 1954, will now be showcased on TNT Sports after a competitive bidding war. BBC expressed pride in its long history with the Games, though it couldn’t match the financial offer that came its way.

But the changes don’t stop there. Channel 4 has swooped in to broadcast the annual Boat Race, adding it to their roster for the first time since it first aired on TV in 1938. Last year’s race set some viewing records, so it’ll be interesting to see how Channel 4 takes it forward, especially with milestone anniversaries approaching for both the Women’s and Men’s races.

Wimbledon fans, breathe easy! The BBC’s contract holds steady until after the 2027 tournament. However, TNT Sports is already jumping in to provide highlight reels from 2025 onwards, taking over a deal originally with Eurosport, which has now been rebranded.
As viewing habits evolve, so do the channels and coverage bringing these beloved events to life. What do you think of the shake-up? Will you be switching channels for your favourite sports moments? 🎥🏆
