Sad news for many as the much-loved Wormshead Hotel, nestled in the stunning Gower Peninsula, is being demolished after a massive fire in July. Known for its panoramic views over the iconic Rhossili Bay and Worm’s Head, this family-run gem has been a cherished spot for locals and visitors alike. π’


The fire, which erupted in the early hours of July 14, turned the hotelβs charm into ashes. Thankfully, all the guests were safely evacuated through the quick actions of the heroic staff, and no casualties were reported. After the blaze, the community rallied to support the hotel owners who have pledged to “raise it from the ashes.”
The demolition, marking both a heartbreaking moment and a hopeful new beginning, kicked off on 3rd September. With mixed emotions, the hotel shared a poignant update, watching the first wall come down. The owners and locals are looking forward with “renewed ambitions” as they plan for the future.
Messages of love and encouragement have poured in. “The best view ever, can’t wait for the reopening,” said one supporter, and another added, “Looking forward to the bigger and better future for the hotel!”
In the meantime, while the demolition continues, a temporary path has been set up to ensure beach access, with hopes that the regular route reopens soon. π
