Our beautiful Traeth Llanddwyn beach on Anglesey had to be shut down temporarily because too many visitors ignored the rules and lit fires and barbecues despite a total ban. With sizzling temperatures and the surrounding woodland as dry as tinder, this rule-breaking posed a real danger!

Over the weekend, Porthmadog hit the headlines as the hottest spot in Britain, pulling in crowds eager to soak up the sun along Wales’ stunning coastline. But what could have been a glorious day out at Newborough National Nature Reserve soon turned into chaos.

Cardiff Latest News
Park wardens were pushed to their limits dealing with the sheer volume of people who set up tents and started cooking on the beachβ€”even after being warned of the dangers. Local Cathy Sands, who witnessed the mayhem, was shocked. “It was chaos,” she said. “Wardens faced abuse and could barely keep up with the number of people lighting fires.”

In a bid to keep everyone and the wildlife safe, wardens closed the reserve from 7-10 PM, successfully preventing potential disaster. Just imagine if the forest had caught fire!

NRW is tackling the issue head-on with plans for a new “barrierless” parking system using ANPR cameras for hassle-free access while still keeping the area safe. Visitors will pay via an app or online. But here’s the deal: we all must do our part. No fires, no camping, and always respect the local guidelines.

Let’s keep Traeth Llanddwyn and its surroundings a safe and beautiful spot for everyone to enjoy. Pack a picnic, take your rubbish home, and leave no trace. Together, we can safeguard this stunning reserve! πŸ–οΈπŸŒΏ

Remember, fires and wild camping are a no-go here, but nearby campsites would love to welcome you. Stay safe, enjoy the sun, and help protect our precious natural spaces! 🌞🌲
