Drama at Coleg Cambria as a teacher finds himself in hot water over Instagram messages to a student. Mark Robertson, a former hospitality and catering lecturer, is under scrutiny for sending a peculiar message asking an 18-year-old student to imagine him as “pocket-size, six inches”, leading many to raise eyebrows.

During a professional standards hearing, Robertson claimed that the message referenced the Disney animation *Ratatouille*. He denied any sexual innuendo, stating the conversation was taken out of context as it took place whilst offering support in a pastoral capacity. He maintained it was purely about easing the student’s exam stress.

However, the student, known as Learner One, described the exchange as “weird”, claiming that the message had a creepy undertone. She also noted other instances in class that made her uncomfortable, such as Robertson comparing hand sizes and asking her to feel his arm muscles.
While Robertson admits to sending the messages, he insists his intentions were non-sexual. He said he acted as a supportive figure for students worried about their assessments and claims his actions were misinterpreted.
Additionally, the hearing brought forward allegations of inappropriate comments and physical contact with students, accusations which Robertson strongly denies, attributing them to “gossip” among students.
The hearing continues as Robertson faces potential professional repercussions. As the story unfolds, it’s clear this saga is far from over. Stay tuned for more updates!
