The incident occurred on Friday afternoon around 4:25pm when a white Ford Transit van crashed into a heavy goods vehicle and two stationary cars. The baby, a passenger in one of those cars, was immediately hospitalised and remains in serious condition.

Shockingly, after the collision, the driver and passenger of the van fled the scene. Police believe both individuals may have suffered serious injuries themselves and are concerned for their well-being.

Sgt Ben Elliott from the Roads Policing Unit expressed deep concern: “A baby has been left seriously injured, and our thoughts are with her family. We are doing everything possible to locate the driver and passenger of the van.”

He added, “We urge anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage, or anyone who witnessed the incident, to contact us immediately. Your information could be vital.”

If you were in the area or have any information, please contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log 937 of 13th February, or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
