Welcome Baby George, Our Little Miracle!

Meet George Morby, the newborn with an extraordinary story. Born to thrilled parents Danny and Alice on November 20, a normal pregnancy suddenly turned into every parent’s worst nightmare. Seconds after George was placed on Alice’s chest, doctors noticed something was off. His breathing and complexion triggered immediate concern.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, George was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries (TGA), meaning his heart was “plumbed backwards.” This condition, affecting about one in 35,000 babies, causes oxygen-rich blood to circulate improperly, seriously threatening his tiny life. Within two hours, George was rushed from Portsmouth to Southampton for emergency surgery, with his anxious parents following closely.
Danny and Alice faced sleepless nights and agonising moments of uncertainty, waiting for their baby to undergo a critical procedure to create a temporary solution inside his heart. This was followed by a complex arterial switch operation at just eight days old to correct his condition.
Against all odds, George is now on the road to recovery. His heart has been replumbed, and he’s home with Danny and Alice, who describe holding him as the best feeling in the world. Regular check-ups are on the horizon to monitor his progress, but the future looks bright for this little fighter.
The family’s journey has inspired many, leading to a successful fundraiser that has almost hit its target, easing the burden for Danny and Alice while they navigated this challenging time. Your support has been overwhelming and deeply appreciated.
Every day with George now brings smiles and warmth, a testament to the resilience of one very special little boy. Here’s to more cuddles, milestones, and a beautiful future ahead!
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of George’s journey so far. If you’d like to support the family, donations are still welcome at the fundraiser page. Let’s help keep these smiles coming! ❤️
