Former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins was infamously known for his shocking crimes, landing him a 29-year sentence at HMP Wakefield. From the moment he arrived, he was seen as a “dead man walking” among inmates due to his heinous past. With a chilling reputation, he faced constant threats in the UK’s largest maximum-security prison, nicknamed “Monster Mansion.”

A former inmate revealed that despite Watkins’ notorious deeds, some women still sent him letters filled with disturbing fantasies— hard to believe anyone could support such a vile figure. His manipulative ways persisted even behind bars, attracting attention from various women, including infamous “goth groupies,” all while his infamous string of crimes haunted his existence daily.

Watkins led a terrified, isolated life in prison. An incident in 2019 added an extra 10-month sentence when he was caught with an illegal mobile phone, showing how he managed to stay in touch with the outside world through dubious means. Yet, Watkins refused to identify those he claimed pressured him into illegal activities inside, saying he feared for his life.
However, in 2023, his fears became reality. Watkins endured a brutal attack by inmates, suffering grave injuries and needing urgent hospital care. Ultimately, his past caught up with him. He was murdered inside the prison, and two inmates have been charged in connection with his death.
News of his demise was reportedly met with cheers from fellow prisoners, a testimony to the deep-seated hatred for him. Facing charges are Rashid Gedel and Samuel Dodsworth, who are set to appear in court. Watkins’ life in darkness ended where it mirrored his crimes—in infamy and without empathy.
