🎉 Exciting times for Pontypridd! 🎉

Our beloved town might soon be shining on the big stage as it races to become the UK’s Town of Culture for 2028! 🏆 Get ready for a cultural extravaganza as Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Pontypridd Town Council step up to submit their expression of interest.

The UK Government’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport is hosting this fab competition, which aims to spotlight towns and their cultural significance. The winning town will bag a whopping £3 million to create a stunning cultural programme that spans six months. Even runners-up get a slice of the pie with £250,000 each to put toward their cultural plans. 💷
Pontypridd, already a treasure trove of culture, will flaunt its rich heritage with highlights like the Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, the rejuvenated YMCA, Llys Cadwyn, and a vibrant festival scene. Let’s not forget the phenomenal hosting of the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol in 2024! 🌟
It’s not just about flaunting art and culture; it’s about uniting our community and showcasing the spirit and traditions that make Pontypridd unique. From our thrilling Morfydd Owen Festival to future musical celebrations, there’s so much to look forward to and be proud of.
This initiative is all about telling our town’s story, enriching community spirit, and placing Pontypridd firmly in the cultural spotlight. Fingers crossed we bring it home! 🤞
Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to cheer Pontypridd on this amazing journey. Let’s show the world what we’ve got! 💪 #Pontypridd2028 #TownofCulture #CelebrateCulture
