🏉💙 Kevin Sinfield’s Promise to a Friend 💙🏉

Kevin Sinfield has been a true mate and hero, keeping a heartfelt promise to his best friend, Rob Burrow. Rob, a sporting legend, passed away at 41 after bravely battling motor neurone disease (MND), but not before leaving a massive legacy. With his courage, Rob raised significant awareness and funds for MND research.

Sinfield, his former teammate and close friend, has been right by his side, taking on gruelling challenges to support Rob. In November 2022, Sinfield ran seven ultra-marathons back-to-back, raising over ÂŁ1.4 million! He didn’t stop there—he pushed Rob in the first ‘Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon,’ carrying him over the finish line, creating a moment that will forever be remembered.

But there was more than fundraising at play. Kevin made a promise to Rob right after his diagnosis. “I wanted Rob not to worry about financial troubles at home, especially with his three young kids to look after,” said Kevin. He pledged that Rob would wake up to a surprise in his bank account come Christmas morning.
The pandemic threw a spanner in the works, but that didn’t deter Kevin. Faced with a shortfall, he invented the 7in7 challenge—seven marathons in seven days, targeting ÂŁ77,777. The incredible journey kicked off with ÂŁ40,000 and concluded with a whopping ÂŁ2.8 million!
Kevin Sinfield’s dedication ensured that Rob felt supported every step of the way, and together, they’ve changed lives, raised awareness, and collected millions for MND charities. Their bond and efforts were recognised when Rob received the Helen Rollason Award in 2022, with Kevin’s monumental efforts also celebrated.
This story isn’t just about resilience and friendship; it’s about how promise and perseverance can make waves far beyond what we imagine. 🌍💪
