A Pembroke diner plans to serve alcohol from a hatch until 5am on weekends, stirring a local debate! The proposal, under review by Pembrokeshire Council, suggests extending Parkside Diner’s current alcohol sales from midnight to 5am Fridays and Saturdays. While the diner presently serves until 11pm, the move is meant to enhance late-night refreshment options.

However, not everyone is on board. Councillor Jonathan Grimes voices strong opposition, fearing it could escalate antisocial behaviour. He argues, “Selling alcohol late at night here would disturb the peace of nearby residents and could lead to increased disorder.”

Supporters, on the other hand, see this as a unique addition to the community. One local mentions, “Parkside Diner has been open over a year with no issues. Extending hours might benefit the area, even if just on a trial basis.”

The discussion has attracted mixed reactions, with objections citing potential disruptions and others praising the diner’s track record. A balanced verdict is essential as anxieties about late-night rowdiness compete with aspirations for a thriving local nightlife.
The final decision, along with any possible conditions for approval, will be decided at a meeting later this month. What do you think – a recipe for trouble or a boost for the local economy? Share your thoughts below!
