Last Monday night turned chaotic on St David’s Road as two police officers were hospitalised after an alleged violent struggle during an arrest. Responding to a call about an assault and criminal damage, officers were faced with an unexpected attack.

The suspect had initially fled the scene but was soon located. When police moved in to arrest the individual, things took a turn for the worse. The suspect, now in custody, allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted both officers involved. Thankfully, both officers have been discharged from hospital and are recovering.

Chief Inspector Mike Llewellyn praised the officers: “Assaults on police officers should never be considered as part of the job. Both officers acted with courage in an incredibly difficult situation.”
