🚨 Shocking Misuse of CCTV by Police Operator 🚨

Imagine discovering that someone you trust has been secretly watching your every move! A former police CCTV operator, Russell Hassler, found himself in hot water after misusing his position to spy on his partner. Using a vast network of cameras, he tracked her movements, and if that wasn’t enough, he also dug into police databases for more info on her and her past relationships. 😲

Hassler, who once worked for Dyfed-Powys Police, admitted to controlling and coercive behaviour using CCTV footage. The kicker? He claimed he didn’t realise the emotional impact his actions had. While he accepted most of the charges, he denied trying to access computer systems for an offence – a plea the prosecution accepted.
This all went down between February 2020 and September 2021, and now the courts are involved. Next up for Hassler is an appearance in Swansea Crown Court on November 24th, where a pre-sentencing report will be prepared. The judge has advised him to brace for any outcome.
It’s a stark reminder of the power and responsibility that comes with handling personal data and surveillance tools. How do you feel about this breach of trust? 🕵️♂️🔍
