A heartbreaking case unfolds as Thomas Morgan, Jensen-Lee Dougal’s stepdad, stands trial accused of the baby’s murder. In March 2024, five-month-old Jensen-Lee tragically passed away from severe brain injuries sustained at home in the Swansea Valley. The little one was rushed to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, but sadly couldn’t be saved and died cradled in his mother’s arms the next day.

Morgan faces serious charges, including murder and inflicting grievous bodily harm. Prosecutors allege he violently shook Jensen-Lee out of anger, causing the catastrophic injuries. Morgan, however, claims innocence, stating the baby began choking after feeding. He asserts his attempts to revive the baby, including shaking and seeking neighbouring assistance after being unable to call for help due to a faulty phone.
Detailed medical evidence presented in court reveals extensive injuries, including bleeding and swelling in the brain, injuries to the spinal cord, eyes, ribs, and limbs, some inflicted over two distinct time frames. Paediatrician Dr Deborah Stalker testified that these injuries are rarely seen in infants and suggest non-accidental trauma, labelling them a result of intentional abuse, not accidental or resuscitative efforts.

As the trial continues in Swansea Crown Court, it’s a deeply emotional and complex case that holds the community’s attention. Stay tuned for updates as the evidence and testimonies unfold.
