There’s a big development in Ceredigion as the former Beulah Primary School is set to be sold. This school, which has been empty since its closure in 2019, could soon see a new lease of life. The local community council has high hopes for the land next door, dreaming of creating a vibrant community facility. 🌳🏫

During a recent Ceredigion Council meeting, senior councillors backed the idea of selling the school site. Though it’s currently priced at £165,000, no offers have come through yet. The building, unfortunately, is in need of some TLC, so future buyers should be ready to invest to restore and renovate.

But here’s where it gets interesting! The Beulah Community Council, who’ve been leasing part of the adjacent field, are keen to buy the land to keep it as a community space. Sadly, their offer didn’t quite meet the site’s valuation. 😔

To support community interests, any future sale will include a special condition: about 10% of the site will be dedicated as a play area for everyone to enjoy! 🛝 How fantastic is that?

Even though developers are already showing interest, there might still be a chance for the community. If given support, the community council could have up to six months to gather funds and put forward a solid proposal before the site hits the open market.

Fingers crossed for Beulah’s community dreams to come true! 🤞 What do you think? Should communities be given the chance to preserve local spaces? Let us know in the comments!
