After 51 heart-wrenching years apart, two sisters from Wales have been reunited, overcoming the tragic past that tore them away from each other. Theresa Fazzani, 59, and Janet, 57, were just little girls when their father brutally murdered their mum, Helen Barnes, in 1973. The shocking crime shattered their world and separated the siblings for decades.

Fast forward to July 2025, and through the magic of Facebook, Theresa finally decided to search for her long-lost sisters. Within just two days of posting in a group dedicated to reconnecting families, Theresa’s dream came true. She found them, and the emotional reunion began.

Growing up was tough on both sisters. Theresa was sent to live with her biological father, while Janet and the younger sisters were adopted. Theresa vividly remembers the harrowing days when she and her sisters were misled about their mum’s fate, taken on a bizarre journey to Scotland by their stepfather, who later confessed to the crime.
For years, both sisters lived apart, battling their own demons, Theresa enduring a difficult childhood in London, and Janet in Wales, facing the burden of guilt due to her father’s actions. Despite the fear and anxiety, both sisters longed to reconnect, but it took Theresa’s bravery to make the first move.
Reuniting has filled a void they both felt for so long. “It’s like I’ve got a missing part of me back,” said Theresa. These days, they’re inseparable, constantly on the phone and visiting each other’s homes. Their emotional journey has not only brought them solace but allowed them to piece together their past, visiting their mother’s grave for the first time.
Incredible stories like Theresa and Janet’s remind us of the importance of family, no matter the obstacles. It’s never too late for love, reconciliation, and healing. ❤️
