Big plans this weekend as a vital segment of the M4 will be fully closed off until 6am Monday, 27th October. The closure spans between Junction 18 (Bath) and Junction 19 (M32) to make way for some impressive bridge work. Expect significant delays, so it’s a great idea to find alternative routes if you’re hitting the road.

Traffic Updates
Why the big shutdown? Eight massive steel girders are being set into place for the brand new A432 Badminton Road Bridge. It’s a huge step forward for the infrastructure project aimed at boosting connectedness with safer and wider paths for pedestrians and cyclists alike.

Traffic Updates
⚠️ Traffic Alert: This stretch of the M4 usually sees around 4,000 vehicles per hour—yikes! Major delays are on the cards. Avoid the stress by planning ahead, especially if you’ve got weekend plans that rely on these roads.

National Express services are still a go, but expect some changes. Stops including Cardiff, Chepstow, and a few others will be temporarily suspended until Monday morning. Don’t let it spoil your travel – they’re offering free amendments for affected bookings.

Diversions are set: Westbound gets off at J18, heads through Bath onto the A4174, then hops back on at M4 J19. Eastbound does the reverse.

A massive thanks to all for your patience during this important project. The payoff? A safer, more reliable route for everyone once the bridge opens in early 2026. 🙌
