A disturbing court case leaves Barry resident Dylan Selby facing 18 months in prison after assaulting his ex-girlfriend and then trying to manipulate her into dropping the charges. The shocking incident occurred at his mother’s home in the early hours, following a heated argument. Selby resorted to violence, leaving the victim with significant injuries to her face. He then sent a string of messages urging her to retract her statement and even suggested she should claim to have hit him first.

Despite his pleas, justice caught up with Selby as he was arrested and found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm and attempting to intimidate a witness. The Cardiff Crown Court heard about his previous offences, painting a grim picture of recurrent violent behaviour.
Judge Paul Hobson’s words were stern, highlighting that the victim deserved a life free from fear and violence. Alongside his prison sentence, Selby now faces a three-year restraining order.
