Jeff embarked on his Welsh language adventure using apps, textbooks, and online resources, embracing a self-taught approach over his spare time. He was so committed that he even travelled 4,000 miles to Cardiff to sit for the A1 Welsh-language exam. ✈️🏛️
On why he chose Welsh, Jeff said, “It was 100% voluntary. There are so many languages and ways to spend your time, but the more effort I put in, the more I enjoyed it. Visiting Wales and practising what I learned was incredibly rewarding.” 📚❤️
His journey to Wales wasn’t just about exams. Jeff and his partner Fran explored the country—taking in the majesty of Caerphilly Castle, the beauty of St Davids, and the stunning landscapes of the national parks. 🏰🌄
Despite the challenges, from time zone differences to a lack of practice partners in the US, Jeff’s passion for languages and history kept him motivated. He also has achievements in French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Irish! 🌍✨
Local support in Wales buoyed his spirits, and although he’s awaiting his exam results, Jeff’s already fulfilled his main goal—broadening his horizons and connecting with Welsh culture. 🗣️👏
