Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered Owens, who proceeded to engage in aggressive behaviour towards them. Notably, Owens first attacked one officer by striking her in the face and then proceeded to pull out a clump of hair in a brutal manner. The situation escalated further when Owens physically assaulted another officer by strangling them during the altercation.

Despite the intensity of the attack, the brave officers managed to detain Owens and subsequently placed him under arrest. Owens appeared in Mold Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assaulting an emergency worker, two counts of threats to kill, assault, and a breach of a criminal behaviour order.

District Inspector Wayne Francis expressed concerns over Owens’ criminal history, mentioning that Owens was already under a Criminal Behaviour Order even before this incident occurred. He condemned the violence against emergency service workers, highlighting the risks they face daily to ensure public safety. Inspector Francis urged the community to denounce any form of violence towards emergency workers who dedicate themselves to protecting and assisting the public.

In the court hearing, Owens was sentenced to one year and ten months in prison for his reprehensible actions.
