Shocking scenes from Abercynon: A man, described as “possessed” due to a drug-induced psychosis from GHB, brutally attacked his partner. Philip Evans, 42, in a troubled on/off relationship, went on a terrifying spree, biting his partner’s face and body after a heated argument. The altercation was sparked by drug use and accusations of infidelity.

It all kicked off when the victim, sensing trouble, started filming his behaviour. Despite her trying to keep distance, Evans violently restrained and assaulted her, leaving her injured and traumatised. At one point, she was forced to grab a knife in self-defence, leading to his eventual calm down.

Arrested later by police, Evans, who’s had a string of previous convictions, admitted to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He later claimed PTSD due to personal tragedies steered him towards drug use. Despite the plea, the court wasn’t swayed, sentencing him to 25 months in prison, with a 5-year restraining order.
The brave victim, in her statement, expressed newfound peace and determination to move forward. She’s working through the trauma but has already noticed a positive change in her life.
