A shocking tale of violence unfolded as Ryan Yanez, 42, threatened his wife with a samurai sword amidst unfounded accusations of infidelity. In a chilling confrontation, Yanez held the sword to her lips and throat, declaring she’d be better off gone. This troubling incident began after a simple text message sent him into a blind rage. He forcefully examined her phone, pulled her from the sofa, and hit her nose out of place. But the terrifying ordeal didn’t end there.

Yanez, unable to control his jealousy, continued his violent spree by brandishing the sword once more and uttering, “You’re not even good enough for it, I’d rather kill you with my bare hands.” These words left her in fear of speaking, worried the sword might tear her lips to shreds.
Several days later, at a friend’s house, Yanez’s accusations continued. When they got home, he demanded to see her phone again. As she resisted, he bruised her arm and cruelly threw her out, leaving her stranded on the street. Yanez, still enraged, took the samurai sword and wandered around until he returned to his house. He then climbed onto his roof, prompting the fire service to bring him down.

Under arrest, Yanez falsely claimed his wife had been aggressive and destructive. Previously known for holding a bladed article and damaging property, Yanez pleaded guilty to these serious charges at Cardiff Crown Court.
In court, his barrister described their relationship as toxic but mentioned Yanez had aspirations to rebuild his life post-incarceration, especially for his children. The judge imposed a 30-month prison sentence and a 10-year restraining order, highlighting his repetitive violence was rooted in uncontrollable jealousy.
