**Breaking News: Manchester Arena Bomb Plotter Faces New Charges**

Hashem Abedi, infamously linked to the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, is making headlines again. Currently serving time for the tragic attack that claimed 22 lives, Abedi has now pleaded not guilty to new charges involving an alleged assault on prison officers.
During a virtual appearance at the Old Bailey from Belmarsh top security jail, Abedi denied using hot cooking oil and makeshift weapons against officers at HMP Frankland. Prosecutor Jocelyn Ledward KC claimed the incident, which occurred on April 12, 2025, has a “terrorist connection.” It’s said that during the alleged attack, Abedi reportedly shouted “Allahu akbar” while targeting three officers and assaulting a fourth.

Despite his history, Abedi denied all charges, including attempted murder and possession of a knife within the jail. Interestingly, he chose to appear without legal representation, declaring, “I don’t want to attend anyway.”
Justice Cheema-Grubb announced that Abedi’s trial is slated for January 18, 2027. This high-profile case is expected to last two to three weeks, and it’s sure to draw significant public attention.
