Meet Rory Henshaw, a golfing prodigy set to take the world by storm! This five-year-old from Tenby has wowed everyone with his exceptional golfing talent, going from the coastal sand dunes to international competitions across the pond in America.
Rory’s golf journey began when he could barely walk, swinging his older cousin’s clubs with surprising precision. Despite not coming from a golfing family, his knack for the sport was undeniable. His parents started posting videos online, and soon enough, Rory’s talent caught the attention of the golfing community.
At just three, Rory joined Trefloyne Golf Club and began taking group lessons. His abilities saw him winning competitions almost immediately. Fast-tracked through various stages, this young golfing wizard has even claimed victories in five under-six tournaments organised by US Kids Golf, leading to an invitation to the Sandestin Championship 2026 in Florida!
Competing as the youngest golfer at the event, Rory didn’t just hold his own; he mingled with some of the best junior golfers out there. Though his scores of 52 and 46 weren’t his best, the experience was invaluable. Now, Rory is gearing up for the European Championships in Scotland this May, where he’ll tee off against 500 of the world’s top young talents!
His dad, Anthony, can scarcely believe how far they’ve come, sharing, “We didn’t know how good he was until others started telling us. Now, he’s at the golf course whenever he can be, in any weather, just practising and enjoying himself. It’s been a surreal journey.”
