Milestone Achieved: Progress Made in Welsh-Language School Initiative

Exciting times ahead for Porthcawl! A new Welsh-medium seedling school is moving closer to reality as Bridgend County Borough Council has given the green light to invite tenders for the project’s construction. This new facility will be nestled on the grounds of Porthcawl Primary School and aims to open its doors by 2027.

Designed to nurture young minds, the school will offer 30 nursery and 30 reception places, alongside 22 childcare spots for children under four. A fantastic start for little ones, they’ll transition to Ysgol y Ferch o’r Sgȇr for the rest of their primary years.

Spanning around 533sqm for the seedling school and 180sqm for the nursery, the site will also feature engaging external play areas and improved access. With anticipated funding coming from a Welsh Government grant, the community is a step closer to a long-awaited educational resource.
