Heartbreaking news from the Isle of Wight: A woman has been charged with murder following the tragic death of one-year-old Jayla-Jean Mclaren, affectionately called a ‘princess’ by her family. Jayla-Jean passed away in August 2025 after being admitted to hospital with severe injuries.
27-year-old Samara Jay Glover is facing charges of murder and causing or allowing the death of a child. She is currently in custody. An unnamed 31-year-old man from Newport was also arrested in connection with the case but has been released on conditional bail as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Hunter has urged the public not to speculate on the case to avoid affecting future court proceedings. Our thoughts are with Jayla-Jean’s family during this unimaginably difficult time. Her family shared a touching message: “Mummy, daddy, and nanny will always love you. Fly high princess.”
