**Health Wake-Up Call: One Mum’s Journey from Migraines to a Major Discovery!**
Meet Nikita Sterling, a 39-year-old mum and teacher from Kent, who learned the hard way not to ignore those pesky migraines. Since 18, Nikita shrugged off her infrequent yet debilitating headaches, but when they turned into a constant battle in late 2024, she knew something wasn’t right. Her symptoms worsened to the point where it felt like her head was “filling with water” and even led to a moment where she lost the ability to speak at a school event.
Frustrated with the lack of a diagnosis, Nikita took matters into her own hands, investing £400 in a private MRI scan. The results were shocking, revealing a large tumour on her frontal lobe, which doctors later confirmed as a meningioma – a non-cancerous brain tumour. They suspected it had been growing undetected for 20 years!
In April this year, on her husband’s birthday, Nikita bravely underwent a four-hour surgery to remove the tumour. Remarkably, the operation was a success, and she’s now on the road to recovery, even prepping to return to teaching next month.
Nikita’s experience has empowered her to advocate for self-assertion in healthcare. She urges everyone not to settle when it comes to health concerns. “Doctors need to listen to their patients,” she says. Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of trusting your instincts and speaking up.
