Expect significant delays as traffic is backed up all the way to Penmaenmawr and Colwyn Bay. Pictures from traffic cameras show the gridlock that took over this morning.

For those of you heading in that direction, prepare for a detour. A massive 45-mile diversion is in place via Betws-y-Coed, taking you on the scenic A470 and A5. But let’s be honest, it’s not the ideal start to your week. So if your journey isn’t urgent, you might want to hold off for now.

Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd member for Aberconwy, stresses that the Conwy Tunnel is crucial for North West Wales. She reassures us that the Traffic Wales team is working hard to fix this issue ASAP. In the meantime, she’s urging everyone to only travel if absolutely necessary.

We’re not yet sure how long the closure will last, but the Welsh Government promises they’re on it, working swiftly to solve the problem. As always, plan ahead, allow extra time, and keep an eye out for those diversion signs.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation during this time. Stay safe and drive cautiously! 🚗💨
