🚨 Heads up, beachgoers! 🚨

The stunning yet dangerous Portuguese Man O’ War has been spotted on Aberavon Beach. Known as “Floating Terrors,” these creatures might look pretty with their see-through, balloon-like bodies, but don’t be fooled! They’re not jellyfish but a colony of tiny organisms working as one. Their tentacles pack a painful sting that can cause anything from red welts to heart and lung complications.

The Port Talbot Coastguard is urging everyone to stay safe: steer clear, even if they look dead. Those tentacles can still sting whether they’re alive or not. If you do get stung, remember the golden rules: rinse with seawater (not fresh water!), gently scrape off any tentacles, and dunk the affected area in the hottest water you can handle for at least 30 minutes. Always seek medical advice if unsure.

This sighting comes after recent appearances of these creatures along the Pembrokeshire, Gwynedd, and Anglesey coastlines. Photographers have captured them in their eerie splendour, but admire them from a distance! 🌊⚠️
