Dozens of drain covers have mysteriously vanished across the city, sparking real safety concerns. Our roads in St Mellons, Fairwater, and Danescourt have become somewhat of a tricky obstacle course with these unexpected openings. 😲
A delivery driver, Mark, first noticed the missing covers while working in St Mellons and now reports it’s affecting other parts of Cardiff too. Unfortunately, while some of these gaps have been marked with cones, many remain dangerously unguarded, especially after dark. 🌙
This isn’t just a bit of mischief; it’s a significant hazard. Picture this: unsuspecting cyclists, motorcyclists, or even kids near schools could easily stumble into these hidden traps. Some of these holes are over two feet deep—definitely not something to take lightly! 🚴♂️⛔
Rumour has it they might be snatched for their scrap metal value, leaving road users and pedestrians at risk. Cardiff Council assures us they’re on the case, but with possibly 100 covers missing in St Mellons alone, it’s no small task. 🛠️
